Getting away from the myriad of screens we see every day – from smartphones to computers to e-readers – spending quality time in nature is an essential element to a healthy lifestyle, and there’s one essential gadget we recommend taking along for the ride on your next adventure: an outdoor watch.
As well as tracking off-piste adventures, they can also be great safety tools: helping you get to where you need to go, and surviving.
So, where can you find one that doesn’t look like a battery pack on your arm – and one that still offers a host of other health and wellness features? Look no further than the Samsung Galaxy Watch5 Pro.
Building on the success of the Galaxy Watch4, the Galaxy Watch5 Pro packs plenty extra to set itself apart from its predecessors and the competition – filled with features you can’t take advantage of on typical treadmill runs.
Here are our four standout features.
Durability
Quite literally built for adventure, the new Galaxy Watch5 Pro is the everyday GPS smartwatch that comes in an ultra-tough design for maximum outdoor performance. The Titanium case is designed to protect against drops and dust , and comes in a scratch-resistant Sapphire Crystal Glass for a premium, sturdy finish.
GPS Tracking
The Galaxy Watch5 Pro offers many ways for hikers and cyclers to ‘go pro’ with their workouts. With Routes, hikers can record, download and import hike route data so their trail-mates can follow their lead. What’s more, hikers can keep their eyes on the trail and off their wrists with GPX, which contains GPS, speed and altitude information . With the help of vibrations and a voice guide, hikers can receive turn-by-turn directions. In addition, with Track Back, you never have to worry about getting lost in the woods — you can always make it back to your starting point by retracing your route.
Battery
From running errands to running on the treadmill, users need a watch that keeps up with them every day — that’s why Samsung has offered a watch that lasts all day and then some. The Galaxy Watch5 Pro has significantly increased the battery life since its predecessors, providing up to 80 hours of general use and up to 20 hours in continuous GPS mode.
Enhanced Health Tracking
While Samsung Galaxy watches are already known for its impressive health features, the Watch5 Pro takes it to a new level. The Body Composition measurement tool is designed to provide a complete snapshot of your skeletal muscle, body fat and body water weight, giving you a tailored approach to set goals, guiding you through personalised workouts and tracking your progress. When it’s time to rest, the Galaxy Watch5 Pro offers recovery data, including post-cardio heart rate after an intense workout, and customised recommendations on water consumption based on sweat loss.
Then there’s the powerful 3-in-1 Samsung BioActive Sensor, which is designed to control three health sensors simultaneously: Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis Sensor, Electrical Heart Sensor (ECG), and Optical Heart Rate Sensor. These sensors do everything from monitoring your heart rate to tracking your cardiovascular health (to help detect unusual heart rates and monitor your blood pressure).
