Bailey Smith And Kalyn Ponga Launch Stuff That Matters Range

Bailey Smith and Kalyn Ponga team up to drop the scents of the season

The cross-code duo have partnered with Stuff That Matters for the release of a line of deodorants and body sprays, for a good cause

AS FAR AS STEREOTYPES GO, few are overly friendly to footy players. They may be tough as nails and incredibly physically gifted, but if you were to paint a caricature of a footy player, they’d likely be fairly boneheaded, plagued by off-field troubles and wouldn’t smell particularly great – which is no surprise considering all the sweating they do. Although, with a new generation of players like Bailey Smith and Kalyn Ponga rising to the top, times are changing.

In a rare demonstration of cross-code solidarity, NRL Dally M medal winner Kalyn Ponga and four-time AFL ’22 under 22′ team member Bailey Smith have joined forces with Australian grooming brand Stuff That Matters. The result of the collaboration is a lineup of game-changing antiperspirant deodorants and body sprays that are available in various major retailers across the country and online right now, in ‘Confidence’, ‘Sport’, ‘Good Fella’ and ‘Smooth Operator’ varieties.

Stuff That Matters

These are no run-of-the-mill celebrity endorsed products. In fact, there’s real, cutting-edge innovation behind Stuff That Matters’ new range, including 72-hour odour protection and quick-dry, no-stain technology. That’s not all – these scents won’t just make you smell good, they’re also enriched with skin-nourishing ingredients like lion’s mane mushrooms, green coffee, and manuka oil, so you’ll be smelling and feeling your best.

Expect to see the Stuff That Matters range on the shelves of major retailers like Woolworths, Big W, Priceline and Sephora immediately, in spaces that are traditionally dominated by big-name brands owned by foreign conglomerates. The emergence of Stuff That Matters, then, makes for a refreshing change.

This collaboration is far from conventional. Stuff That Matters haven’t just thrown swaths of money at Ponga and Smith to have them rep a brand they’d never actually use. The pair of athletes are going big on breaking down stereotypes and advocating for mental health awareness, which wholly aligns with Stuff That Matters’ goal of redefining masculinity and sparking meaningful change.

Stuff That Matters

Every purchase of a Stuff That Matters product contributes to funding mental health programs for young men through the Man Cave charity. This was critical for both Ponga and Smith in fronting the campaign. “Teaming up with Stuff That Matters, alongside Bailey, feels truly special,” Ponga says. “Mental health often gets sidelined, especially among guys, so being part of the impact they’re having on young men is inspiring.”

“Backing a brand like Stuff That Matters aligns with what’s important for me,” adds Smith. “Looking after your mental health is essential and it’s awesome that buying a deodorant can have an impact.”

Like Smith says, the benefits of Stuff That Matters’ deodorants and body sprays are two-fold – you can smell great and support a worthy cause while doing it.
